Recently I saw Dr. Shannon Heiss at the midtown location of your office. I mentioned to her that I have headaches and I’m always looking for a potential cause. The longer story is that two years ago I suddenly started getting migraines 5-7 days per week. Some were severe and many have caused me to miss family events, outings with friends, and work. I’ve seen so many doctors between primary care and neurology (I even had a crown place for a tooth we thought could be causing trouble!!) and I’ve been on many many many different meds, with little relief found. I’ve had blood work galore, neuro exams, MRIs, and CTs. I’ve tried every home remedy I’ve heard and I even had an ER visit thrown in there for good measure.

In the appointment with Dr. Heiss, at one point she suddenly said “I know what’s causing your headaches!” I was curious, but honestly felt pretty pessimistic about it since I’ve tried so much already. She said my eyes aren’t aligned and the strain could be causing my migraines. She prescribed some readers for me to wear at the computer or for near vision. I’ve never had trouble reading close up, so this never occurred to me. I have now been wearing the glasses for 3 weeks and haven’t had any headaches. This is the longest I’ve gone without them over these past two years.

To say this is life changing is an understatement. Dr. Heiss has literally given me my life back! I am able to play more with my kids and be more present for everyone in my life. I cannot express to you how much I appreciate you listening to me and taking the time to find the answer. I still can’t believe this helped. Thank you SO much, Dr. Heiss.

I’ve always prided myself on having excellent vision, and lucky enough to have avoided glasses or contacts. But over the last year, I couldn’t quite claim excellent eyesight anymore and figured it was time for a new eye exam. I’ve had such exams in the past, and they’ve been altogether unremarkable, so I didn’t expect this instance to be any different. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to find my experience at Definitive Vision be a great one! Their safety protocols amidst the pandemic are top-notch, and their customer service was friendly and attentive from beginning to end. This business takes covid-19 seriously. It was a great comfort to observe their protocol for maintaining a safe environment for both the staff and the patient. Jesse, the optician who greeted me and completed initial tests, was friendly, professional and thorough. Dr Elwood, the optometrist who completed the annual eye exam, described each procedure and listened attentively to my responses. during discussion of results, Dr Elwood provided me with helpful information concerning my decisions about cataract surgery and lid surgery. Having people close to your face and eyes isn’t ideal during a pandemic; however, they modified their process to minimize contact while still providing excellent care.
